Each driver will draw for a starting position. The lowest number drawn will be on the pole of the first heat race. The second lowest number will be on the pole of the second heat race etc.

A pre-determined number of cars will advance to the Feature event and draw for their starting positions at intermission. The remainder of the field will be lined up in the order of their heat race finish.

All cars that are signed in and on the heat race line-up but do not compete will be awarded 50 points for attending that night’s race.

All Events will be Points Races. Any positional ties will be resolved by taking the finishing record into account; wins/seconds/thirds etc.

RAIN DELAYS: In a rain delay situation the MidwestDirt Late Model Series reserves the right to amend the racing format in the interest of time restraints and scheduling conflicts. The format changes will be made with the Fans and Drivers best interest in mind, and changes will only be made if an Event is in jeopardy of being lost due to rescheduling availability, a time curfew, or inclement weather. Under these circumstances the amount of laps for qualifying, heats, and Main Event may be shortened.

Standard Flagging procedures will be used for each Event. If, for any reason, the Race is run one lap short or long, the Race is officially over when the Checkered Flag falls. After an on-track incident, the car, or cars, which come to a stop on the racetrack, that were involved in the incident, will be sent to the rear.

1) Once the Field has been sent away from the Grid after Driver Introductions, warm-up laps at racing speed will be considered a penalty, and the offending Driver or Drivers will start the race from the rear. Sufficient laps to warm up engines, transmissions and tires will be given.

2) A cone will be placed on the front straight coming out of turn four.

3) After the one lap to go signal has been given, the field must maintain an orderly controlled pace around to the cone, with the front row running side by side. The pole-sitter will set the pace going into turn 3 and maintain that pace. It is the responsibility of the outside pole to keep his car even with the pole-sitter unless track conditions prevent it in which the MidwestDirt Late Model Director will make a decision on how to start the race.

Provided that the line up is good, the Race will be started at some point Between turn 4 and the flag stand. The race will not start until the Green Flag is/has flown.

4) Anticipating the start or firing before the green flag will be considered a penalty, and the offending Driver or Drivers will be given 1 warning. 2nd offense is one row.

5) Any Driver, who comes to a stop during the first lap, and, in the opinion of the Officials has done so deliberately to cause a restart, will be put to the rear before the race is restarted.

6) Restarts will be made using the Cone System and the Green Flag. The Cone will be placed on the front straight, and there will be no passing before the cone. Any Driver, who passes before the cone, hits the Cone, or, goes below the cone will be put to the back of the starting field. In the case of persistent jumping by the same Driver or Drivers, the Black Flag may be used as an alternative form of control. Any Driver in the Feature, who is unable to start, will lose his position to an Alternate. Alternate Drivers will be notified of their positions, and if you are not ready to go, it is fairly certain that the Alternates will be. Once an Alternate has been called forward to take your position, you may not reclaim that position.

In the event that a Driver is unable to take up his assigned Grid Position, the following Cars will be moved forward to fill that position. The Grid will not be crossed and realigned. Alternates will join on at the back of the Field, and not in the empty positions.

There will be no racing back to the Caution. If the caution is displayed after the leader takes the white flag it shall be considered a completed event, going back to the last completed lap. In the event of a Caution, the car, or cars, involved in the incident that comes to a stop on the race track, will be sent to the rear.  In the event of either a Caution or a Red Flag, any car that goes into the Pits will rejoin the Field at the rear. In the event of a Red Flag crew members will be allowed to make changes if necessary, but only in designated areas. In all cases, either starts or restarts, if the one lap to go signal has been given, those rejoining after the signal must join the Field at the rear.

In the event of a Caution, all lapped cars will line up for the restart at the rear of the field by position on the racetrack, and according to the previously completed lap.

In the event of a Caution, since there will be no racing back to the Yellow Flag, the Field will line up for restart in the order of the last completed Green Flag lap. Note: In order to retain its position, a car must have been in that position for one complete Green Flag to Green Flag lap, including lapped cars.

Any Driver that spins, for any reason, as he is being lapped, or, is about to be lapped by the leader, and brings out the Caution, will be scored one lap down from that point onwards in the race. Only Track or Series Officials may work on cars on the Track during a yellow flag, and if the Officials are unable to fix a problem, they may send the car to the Pits. This Rule also applies in the event of an accident.

Please note: There is a distinct difference between being given the Black Flag and being Disqualified.

Black Flag - means that you have been sent to the Pits and will take no further part in the current race, whether it is a Heat, Last Chance or Feature. Your car will not be scored from the Black Flag time onwards.

Disqualified - means that you will not be allowed to take any further part in the competition from that point on. No Points or Prize Money will be awarded in the event of a Disqualification whenever it occurs during a particular event.

The following Penalties will be applied after normal Caution Procedures have been followed, unless special circumstances apply:

1) Under Green Flag or Caution Flag conditions, the MidwestDirt Late Model Series Director reserves the right to invoke penalties or suspensions of any Driver whose actions are deemed to be overly aggressive, or fall into the category of rough driving.

2) Drivers will be notified of any penalties that have been levied by the Series Director. All decisions shall be final.

3) Note: This rule is not intended to eliminate competition or accidental contact; however, is intended that deliberate contact and/or over-driving, will be penalized.

4) Any physical confrontation, either on the Race Track or in the Pits, will result in the Aggressor or Aggressors being suspended for the next MidwestDirt Late Model Series Event and maybe subject to a fine plus the loss of points.

5) A second offense will result in suspension for the rest of the season. Note: Any Driver who enters another Drivers Pit area will be deemed the Aggressor. Away from either drivers Pit area, both drivers will be considered Aggressors. Drivers should be aware that they will be held responsible for any members of their Race Team, and the above Penalties will apply even if the driver concerned is not directly involved. If a Driver wishes to confront another driver pertaining to an incident it is advisable to do so under supervision from an official.

6) Any incidents that are judged to be deliberate Acts of Aggression, whether on or off the Track, under Green or Caution, will result in Disqualification.

7) The MidwestDirt Late Model Series Officials reserve the right to increase the above Penalties, depending on the severity of the incident.

8) If there is any kind of retaliation in the Pit Area or on the Track during a Caution or Red Flag, the Agressor will be automatically Disqualified and will serve a 2 race suspension.

ALL DRIVERS PLEASE NOTE: All Events will be conducted according to schedule in a timely manner. Schedules will be posted in the Pits, as will Lineups. It is your responsibility to adjust your workload accordingly and be ready when called.

It should also be noted that cars must be presented for Tech. Inspection when requested to do so by the Tech. Inspector or Series Director. Delays in getting Tech. Inspection completed, or refusal to unload in a timely manner will result in offending Drivers being denied Hot Laps .The first 5 Cars must weigh in immediately following their Heat Races, and Last Chance Races. If only one Last Chance Feature is run, All transferring cars must weigh in.

Following the Main Feature, The Top Five Cars that finish the race must cross the scales and weigh in correctly. This includes the Winner who must weigh prior to any Winners Interview or Presentation held on the front straight.

Note: All Cars must proceed directly from the race track to the Scales. Any detour, to anywhere, will result in disqualification or the offending Driver being relegated to last place.

Any Car that is light at the Scales following a Heat race, Last Chance race, or Feature, will be relegated to last place for that race.

It should be noted that certain procedural changes may have to be implemented during the Season. Any changes will only be made with the Drivers, Teams Promoters, and Fans best interests in mind. Example: In case of an Event being rescheduling to a later date.

Please remember that we are here because of the Fans, Promoters and the Sponsors. If they don't benefit we won’t. While we understand that this Competition involves substantial financial stakes, there is no excuse for bad or unruly behavior, which would tend to bring the Series into disrepute.
