Sooner Series event at Caney washed out
By John Rittenoure, TULSA, Okla. (June 11, 2025) - For the first time since July, 2019 no part of Oklahoma is in drought status. However, a racing drought exists at Caney Valley Speedway. And the drought will not end this weekend as Saturday's program featuring the Sooner Late Model Series is canceled.
It is the fifth time since April 26 that Caney has tried to race only to cancel due to a very wet spring.
Promoter Kerry Gorby reports that grounds are still very soft from past spring rains and more rain is forecast for Thursday thru Saturday so calling the show is the only alternative.
The next Hayden Ross Motorsports Foundation Sooner Late Model Series event is scheduled for Friday, June 20 at Enid Speedway.
